Shop floor and finished units

The most current build photography lives on Instagram, where it goes up as the work happens.

From our own builds

A bare shell framed out on the shop floor, fabrication at the bench, welding inside a unit, a service window cut into a van side, a trailer part-way through its build, then the hood and cooking line going in, a finished interior and finished trucks in their wraps. Every one of these is our own work.

  • The bare shell of a box truck on the shop floor with its rear doors open, stripped back to the frame and framed out in new timber studs down both walls, a ladder standing inside.
  • A welder in a red hoodie and welding helmet running a weld along a steel bracket at the shop bench, cut lengths of square tubing laid out in front.
  • A welder in a green flame-resistant jacket kneeling on a diamond-plate floor inside a unit, welding a stainless steel counter frame as sparks fly.
  • A service window cut into the side of a white step van in the shop, the opening framed out in fresh timber, with the workshop's brick wall and timber ceiling behind it.
  • Food trailer interior being framed and built out at JC Installation, Chicago.
  • A worker on a step inside a unit part-way through its fit-out, fixing the stainless ceiling panel beside a newly hung extraction hood, the walls lined with insulation board over timber framing and a work light standing on a tripod.
  • A stainless steel extraction hood and prep counter installed inside a unit part-way through its build, the wall panels still under blue protective film and the gas line run to the cooking position.
  • A stainless steel extraction hood over a flat-top griddle and burner range inside a mobile kitchen, with a steam table beside them.
  • The finished stainless steel interior of a mobile kitchen — prep counters and sink down one side, cooking line down the other, diamond-plate floor running back to the rear door.
  • The finished stainless steel interior of a mobile kitchen — a reach-in refrigerator and prep counter down one side, the extraction hood over the cooking line at the far end, a hand sink and water heater opposite, and a diamond-plate floor throughout.
  • Finished custom food truck built by JC Installation serving customers in downtown Chicago.
  • A finished food truck in a full-color pink wrap advertising ice cream and Mexican snacks, parked outside with its serving hatch closed and menu boards down the side.
  • A finished food truck in a full-color yellow, blue and red wrap, parked in a lot on a sunny day with its serving window propped open and menu boards mounted beside it.

Shop progress, fabrication and finished mobile kitchens are posted to @jc_installation as they happen. It is the fastest way to see what is on the floor right now, and it updates long before a gallery page does.
